Stopped at the side of the road, you are trying to remove the spare tire of your EcoSport so you could replace a flat tire. Suddenly you realized, to remove the spare tire, you need a special key!
Every EcoSport unit comes with a spare tire that is protected by a special key. The key and the nut the pairs with it, serves as an anti-theft device. Without it, it would be very difficult to turn the nut (it can be by-passed but I won’t discuss it here). There are 32 different “keys”, so you can’t simply borrow one from a fellow EcoSport owner and expect that it will work with your unit.
If you lose your key, it is best to ask for a replacement from your dealer. Have you tried removing the spare tire, using the special key?

Hi, good afternoon. I just bought a second hand 2017 ecosport; spare tire key lock & tow hook was not included by the previous owner.
How do i override the spare tire key lock, before i get in trouble of having a flat tire while on the road?
