Cleaning the Windshield Drain

After rainwater hits the windshield, gets mixed with dirt, and wiped away, where does it go? What happens to the leaves that have accumulated at the base of the windshield, do they get blown away as you drive the vehicle, or do they remain in your car? How does an EcoSport handle the flow of water from the windshield, thus, keeping the engine bay dry?

Like most cars, EcoSport has a water-catching mechanism at the base of its windshield, called the windshield drain.
