Last March, we took our EcoSport on a 4-day roadtrip to visit the beaches of Pangasinan, and try for the first time, the winding roads to Baguio City via Kennon road.

Day 1: We left Cavite at 4 am, and reached Alaminos at 1 pm, via NLEX-SCTEX. We had a short tour around the Hundred Islands, where we rented a boat so we could island-hop. We then continued with the trip and reached Bolinao at around 4 pm. We were able to squeeze a short kayaking activity before dinner. We then spent the night in a beach-front resort in Bolinao, with magnificent views of the night sky—we saw the Milky Way and was able to take a shot with our EcoSport in the foreground!

Day 2: We had breakfast with a clear view of the sea. There were birds fishing in the low tide, so we decided to spend an hour bird-watching with our binoculars. We then explored the Patar beach and the Bolinao lighthouse. From the vantage point at the lighthouse, you could see cruise ships heading north, passing through the distant waters west of the Philippines. Lucky for us, we had binoculars to see the ships up close! In the afternoon, we went to the Bolinao Marine Laboratory of the UP MSI to see the giant clams. We then left Pangasinan at 2 pm and began our trip to Baguio. The sunset view at Lingayen Gulf was simply breathtaking! Passing through La Union, we started climbing to Baguio right after sunset, via Kennon Road. We reached city proper at around 8 pm and ate dinner at 50s Diner.

Day 3: We explored Baguio starting with a breakfast at Chocolate Batirol at Camp John Hay, then visited Starbucks! We bought some stuff at Mile Hi Center, then spent much of the day strolling around the camp and taking photos here and there. We then left Camp John Hay and head to Ben Cab Museum. It was a steep descent going to Ben Cab, manageable through engine braking! We ate late lunch there and spent the afternoon looking at Sabel. We went back to the city proper, checked out Baguio Brewery, and in the evening, dropped by Mount Cloud to purchase some books. We had dinner at the Hill Station. Finding a parking space nearby was extremely difficult!

Day 4:  We woke up early so we could buy a styro box with ice in the nearby market, as we had planned to hand-pick strawberry at La Trinidad that day. We reached the strawberry farms at around 9 am (we were told we should have arrived at 6 am!). They charge 400 pesos per kilo for the hand-picked strawberries. We then went to Good Shepherd to buy more pasalubong. We had our lunch at Kamiseta Hotel, and at around 3 pm, started our descent through Kennon Road. We had a short stop at the Lion’s Head, and reached Cavite at 10 pm due to extended stops at NLEX.
